Gobblers' Knob String Band

At one thousand three hundred seventy three foot above sea level, Gobblers' Knob cast a pretty long shadow on the hollow where the Snopes brothers grew up in rural North Georgia. The brothers R.V., Wendell, and Eugene grew up in a rich stew of country and mountain music. Although all of the family played and sang, only these three brothers had the desire to pursue their music with a fiery passion. The boys soon found themselves in demand to play at festivals, fairs, and church homecomings. Originally known as the Sons of Bob, named in honor of their father, the band had an early morning radio program for many years. R.V. and Wendell renamed the group as the Gobblers' Knob String Band following Eugene's mandated departure which resulted from his sentence of 7 years at the A.J. Foley Correctional Center. The band's current lineup included R.V. and Wendell (Wendy) Snopes and their neices Sarobeth Gribble and Durcella Snopes, and their nephew Eli Wheatly. In 2010 the band received the first place at the Thurlow Valley Country and Bluegrass Jamboree. The band has opened for such noted touring bands as Jimmy Sunshine and his Cowboy Troubadours, famed female vocalist Inez Painter, as well as the Hudson Sisters with Buddy the singing bulldog. The band is sponsored by Sons of Bob A+ Septic Tank Service, which is owned by the Snopes Brothers.
